Privacy FAQ

ronaldo-or-messi.com is built to be as boring as possible from a privacy perspective. No accounts, no analytics, no advertising trackers. This page lists exactly what we store and why.

+Do you store my IP address?

No. The server never logs your IP for the purpose of voting. Standard hosting access logs may keep a temporary IP for security and abuse prevention, but they are never linked to a vote.

+Do you use cookies?

No tracking cookies. We use localStorage in your browser to remember a random voter ID and your chosen player. Both stay on your device and you can clear them at any time via your browser settings.

+What is the voter ID exactly?

A random string generated by your browser (UUID + timestamp). It cannot be reversed into your identity. Its only purpose is the database UNIQUE constraint that limits one vote per device.

+Can I delete my vote?

To keep aggregate counts honest we don't expose deletion. Because the voter ID is anonymous, there is no personal data to remove. If you clear your browser storage you'll be able to vote again from a fresh ID — but the previous vote stays anonymous in the totals.

+Who can read or change votes?

Row-Level Security on the database only allows public INSERTs of valid payloads. Nobody — including us, in the browser — can UPDATE or DELETE existing votes. Reads are public on purpose so the live count works.

+Third parties?

No advertising networks, no Google Analytics, no Facebook pixels. The only outbound calls your browser makes are to our backend (for the live counts) and the static image/font assets the page itself loads.
